Xavi and Mascherano are among the candidates for the post of head coach of Inter Miami. Xavi and Javier Mascherano are contenders for the post of head coach of Inter Miami, reports the Miami Herald.
Previously it became known that Gerardo Martino, who led the team since 2023, decided to leave it for personal reasons.
Mascherano, 40, currently leads Argentina`s youth team and his current contract expires at the end of December.
Xavi, 44, left his post as Barcelona head coach after the end of last season.
Both candidates previously played for Barça as players and crossed paths there with the leaders of the Miami club - Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergi Busquets and Jordi Alba.
Inter Miami scored the most points among all participants in the MLS regular season this season, but was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
